JSK Hotels Donate to Life Treatment Centers

Founded in 1972, Life Treatment Centers, Inc. has been a stalwart in addressing the chemical dependency needs of the St. Joseph County/North Central Indiana community. Their mission, to enhance the quality of life for individuals grappling with addiction, resonates deeply with those who believe in the transformative potential of comprehensive treatment services.

The story behind this remarkable collaboration begins with a simple observation by Amy Grill Kalka, CFO of Life Treatment Centers. Amy noticed that some of the blankets provided for LTC residents were inadequate, prompting her to take action. Determined to ensure the comfort and well-being of those under LTC’s care, Amy’s advocacy sparked a chain of events that would ultimately lead to a heartwarming display of generosity from JSK Hospitality.

“I took a couple home and my husband and I used them,” Amy shared. “They were so cheap and thin that I froze all night. So I came back the next day and told Tim (Smith; LTC CEO) that if they are not good enough for me, they are not good enough for our residents.”

Amy’s dedication to the residents’ comfort spurred her to seek out better alternatives. Through LTC board president TJ Jorgensen, Amy connected with us, JSK Hospitality. The wheels of generosity were set in motion when Michael Blanton, JSK’s VP of Operations, and Marie Tokarz, the Director of Human Resources, stepped forward to lend their support.

“When I learned about the people at Life Treatment Centers and what they do in this community, I had to find a way that we could support this wonderful cause,” Tokarz said.

The JSK team’s contribution to LTC’s mission was nothing short of remarkable. The donation included 30 body towels, 70 prepackaged razors, 100 toothpaste packets, 50 rags, 12 pillowcases, 8 brand-new pillows, 2 huge bags of gently used pillows, and a comforter. This act of kindness not only provided essential items but also served as a touching reminder of the power of collaboration and community spirit.

Marie Tokarz reiterated JSK Hospitality’s commitment to supporting LTC and its endeavors within the community. “It was a pleasure to work with the staff at the Life Treatment Center to learn more about what they are doing within our community and learning about how we could support and help their wonderful cause,” she remarked. “We at JSK Hospitality are looking forward to working with them more throughout the coming year and watching Life Treatment Center continue to grow and do great things within our community.”

In a world often characterized by haste and competing interests, the partnership between JSK Hospitality and Life Treatment Centers stands as a beacon of compassion and solidarity. It serves as a reminder that our collective pursuit of a better tomorrow is advanced through acts of kindness and support for those in need.

As we reflect on this heartwarming collaboration, let us be inspired to seek out opportunities to uplift and support those around us. For it is through acts of kindness, both big and small, that we can truly make a difference in the lives of others and sow the seeds of hope for a brighter, more compassionate future.
